Buddhist Association (Wazo Robe Offering Ceremony)

Wazo-robe Offering Ceremony
(30-7-15  ~ 31-7-15)

It is the custom for Burmese Buddhist to offer Waso-robe to the monks for the purpose of wearing it during their three-month-lent which begins on the first waning day of Waso and ends on the full-moon-day of Thadingyut. Accordingly, it is an annual religious event for Meiktila University to hold Waso-robe offering ceremony on the full-moon-day of Waso, the fourth month of Burmese calendar. Following the well-established tradition, the ceremony was also held today, the full-moon-day of Waso, just the day before the beginning of the Buddhist lent, at the University community centre for religious purpose. During the ceremony, Waso-robes, provisions and alms food were offered to the Buddhist monks, and Rector, Pro-Rectors and staff of Meiktila University received eight precepts from the monks and shared the merits gained.
